My second month as a
digital marketing apprentice
I am now just about to go into the third month of my apprenticeship with Credere Media and what an educational experience it has been so far.
In the time since my last post, I have attended college and completed my first module on SEO. It was exciting to be in a completely new learning environment and being around others currently doing the same course telling me about their job and experiences. I felt very lucky that I have had the chance to experience so much at Credere in as little as two months.
Results
Much like last time a lot of my work has been SEO based, I expected this as it has been the current topic at college and something I find extremely interesting. The difference this time is that I have started to see results! This may only be a slight increase in traffic on a clients website and a slow increase up Google’s rankings but it is great to see. I have been able to conduct research for the client using Google Keywords to find their top keywords and take them from 0 keywords ranking in the top to now having 4 words/phrases ranking in Google’s top 10.
Certified
After using SEMRush as a go-to tool for the SEO on a daily basis, when they announced a certification for SEO’s I had to do it, especially with the tagline ‘Become a certified marketing pro’ – who wouldn’t want to. This was great for really learning the ins and outs of SEMRush and giving myself the confidence to use it to its full advantage as it offers so many benefits to the task at hand. I have been able to take the knowledge learned from this and apply it to the client’s SEO marketing campaign that we are currently working on and understand what changes I should make and why I should be making them. I hope as I continue to use the tool my understanding will continue to increase and I can really get them pages to the top of Google. Online I have also been able to complete a course supplied by Moz, another group of SEO experts, to gain a further understanding of Search Engine Optimisation and to add another tool under my belt to use for this purpose.
Alongside this project, I have also been able to work with Stu to create an email marketing campaign for a client using MailChimp. This has been great for me as I am really starting to understand the benefits of analytics and how to use them to the client’s advantage to make changes to the content and timing of the email, ensuring a better performance and in time increase online sales.
This past month has been full on however it really has been great to have the chance to learn and even better to see results and get a buzz that what I am doing actually works, and that is only after two months on the job!
Over the next week, I will be in college with 3aaa studying Sales, Segmentation and Strategy and I look forward to discovering this area of marketing and applying it to our current clients work! For anyone interested in digital marketing I would strongly advise making the jump and starting a digital marketing apprenticeship, it is up there with one of the best decisions I have ever made.
